With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Walker specializes in individual and couples therapy, life / career / wellness coaching, biofeedback, and stress management. 
Among her areas of expertise are depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, couples work, assertiveness and communication skills, self-esteem, grief / loss, work-life balance, coaching, biofeedback, and stress management. In addition to private practice, she has served in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient physical rehabilitation, community agency, and as an employee assistance program (EAP) counselor assessing the mental health and work-life needs of employees served globally by the EAP, providing critical incident / stress management for HR managers and crisis management of employees when needed, and performing structured telephonic counseling sessions with employees.

In addition to being a well-respected therapist and published author in a peer-reviewed professional journal, she is a frequent invited speaker to present to medical professionals, patient groups, local civic groups, and corporate executives and staff on a variety of topics including stress management and work-life balance. She has presented at numerous national and regional conferences and, as lead counselor, taught daily psychoeducational classes for patients participating in a month-long comprehensive, interdisciplinary outpatient pain management program at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX and assisted in quality assurance and outcome measurement of clinical services provided to patients served in the program. Furthermore, Dr. Walker served as an adjunct professor and clinical supervisor for the Master's Program in Counseling at the University of North Texas at Dallas before relocating back to North Carolina to begin her private practice. Most recently, Dr. Walker was invited to contribute to an article on working with clients with depression titled "Eyes Wide Open" which was published in Counseling Today, a publication by the American Counseling association (click here to read the article: http://ct.counseling.org/2012/11/eyes-wide-open/).

Dr. Walker is an interactive, solution-focused and rational emotive behavioral therapist who incorporates a lot of mindfulness and awareness into her work with clients. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, Dr. Walker works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
